English to Italian: ART General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
Source text - English Art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts (artworks), expressing the author's imaginative or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.
In their most general form these activities include the production of works of art, the criticism of art, the study of the history of art, and the aesthetic dissemination of art.
The oldest documented forms of art are visual arts, which include creation of images or objects in fields including today painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and other visual media.
Music, theatre, film, dance, and other performing arts, as well as literature and other media such as interactive media, are included in a broader definition of art or the arts.
In modern usage after the 17th century, where aesthetic considerations are paramount, the fine arts are separated and distinguished from acquired skills in general, such as the decorative or applied arts.
Art may be characterized in terms of mimesis (its representation of reality), narrative (storytelling), expression, communication of emotion, or other qualities.
The nature of art and related concepts, such as creativity and interpretation, are explored in a branch of philosophy known as aesthetics.

Bio
Who I am
I'm an italian mother tongue translator born and based in northern Italy.
From a very young age my curiosity and obsession for international music and cinema helped me turning my love for foreign languages into a proper skill.
I used to watch a lot of MTV and this was pretty crucial because a big portion of its content in English with Italian subtitles.
I also liked to spend a lot of my free time on international online communities and bought tons of English music and entertainment magazines as my fave bands were hardly known in my country and I needed to find a way to keep myself updated.
But, of course, I had specific academic training.
My high school diploma as Operator for the Touristic Services led me to the University of Milan where I got a Bachelor Degree in Foreign Languages and Modern Cultures.
In the following years, I have focused more on translation studies attending different training courses regarding both editorial and technical fields that improved my skills.
I never really stopped dealing with foreign languages as I've always used English as a second language almost on a daily basis for several reasons (and I'm currently learning German).
Given the fact that I see myself as a "walking work in progress" and I love learning new things in general, I've always seen translations as a tool to grow both as a person and professionally and in the meantime satisfy my curiosity. Basically, it's like killing two birds with one stone.
Being passionate about what I do is a key factor to me. I always do my best at avoiding poorly written content and dialogues. My goal is to meet my clients needs the best I can. I'm that kind of person who grammar checks subtitles while watching a movie on Netflix.
In the recent past I have translated different kinds of documents, such as: business correspondence, interviews, treatments for the movie industry, product descriptions for e-commerce and crowdfunding campaigns. I have also subtitled and performed QC on entertainment products for Netflix and other streaming platforms.
I'm also a voluntary subtitler for TEDx which helps me keeping my mind fresh and inspired.
This is how I do Business
Precision, accuracy and meeting deadlines are things I really care about.
I always do my best to meet my clients' demands and sometimes it may take me an extra email, or two.
I think a clear and honest email exchange is at the core of any professional relationship and it's something I value very much.
I DON'T DO MTPE, so don't ask me that. Thank you.
