ProZ.com Virtual Conference Expected to Draw Largest Gathering of Translators in History
First-ever event to mark International Translation Day
and ProZ.com’s 10th anniversary
SYRACUSE, NY September 21, 2009 — ProZ.com, the world's leading translator community and website, announced today that more than five thousand (5000) translators have registered for the translation industry’s first-ever virtual conference. The date for the virtual conference is International Translation Day – September 30, 2009 – which coincides roughly with ProZ.com's own tenth anniversary.
The event will be conducted entirely online. Technology will be provided by Unisfair, the web's leading provider of virtual events. Attendees will be able to participate in industry presentations, meet with translation company and vendor representatives, and network with other professionals who may work in their languages and fields.
Drew MacFadyen, ProZ.com’s director of outside sales, commented, “Due to the nature of the profession, the world's translators are distributed across a wide geographical area, and this presents challenges. With this event, ProZ.com is providing the world's translators with a highly accessible opportunity to network and learn together with colleagues throughout the world.”
Thanks to strong support from sponsors and exhibitors, the event will be entirely free for attendees. Sponsors include industry leading companies Across, Alchemy, Atril, Beetext, Language Line, Lionbridge, MemoQ, Multilingual, SDL TRADOS, STAR Group, thebigword, Translation Office 3000 and Wordfast.
