Hi, I am translating a Canadian power of attorney. One of the stamps reads: "Barrister, solicitor and Notary Public. No legal advice given".
What does it mean? I thought a solicitor or a Notary would give legal advice. I guess I am missing something here. :)
So, please, I need to to know why this sentence appears as part of the stamp and what does it really imply.

Habría que ver el sello, no obstante apunta que solo ejerce como notario, a pesar de ser "solicitor" y "barrister" también. En tu contexto, solicitor, barrister y notary no son lo mismo.

Compara la frase "No legal advise given" que aparece en el sello anterior con la frase "does not constitute legal advice" que es típica de un DISCLAIMER.
"No constituye asesoramiento jurídico" es realmente la traducción de "Does not constitute legal advice"

Lo más probable es que los abogados (barrister y solicitor) se curen en la salud o se cubran la espalda. La realidad en los países anglosajones es que cualquier cosa que un abogado diga, en el contexto que sea, podría interpretarse como "asesoramiento jurídico", y si una persona lo invoca o se base en él y sufre perjuicios, al abogado le caerá la del pulpo.
Por eso, si no les han contratado expresamente para prestar asesoramiento jurídico, en las demás actuaciones prefieren eximirse expresamente de toda responsabilidad. Y qué mejor que reflejarlo en un sello, digo yo. Lo veo mucho también en documentos relativos a inversiones; tipo: "no, no, no es un consejo para invertir ni nada de eso, solo informamos... la responsabilidad es tuya, etc.".
Suerte.
