English term

earthing breaker

English to Hebrew Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng
"the OC Rail shall be divided in two feeding sections. Each feeding section is fed by the OC line of the depot area. Two earthing breakers shall be installed at the both ends of feeding section for a safety work at the trains (especially at the roof work platforms). Earthing breakers shall be earthed by two own cables, connect directly to the rails".

האנגלית הגרועה במקור.

Discussion

Daniel Rabinovich (asker) Jan 23, 2015:
I don't think it's the same document - its just a 20 page document from 2013 on the adaptation of one particular depot.

The translator from DE to EN Did not have enough EE (electrical engineering) knowledge
Wait until you get to the OLSP = Oberleiterspannungspruefanlage - something they put at each end of a tunnel
Daniel Rabinovich (asker) Jan 22, 2015:
I just noticed that the circuit diagram indeed shows a switch under the inscription "earthing breaker".
meirs Jan 22, 2015:
BTW - breaker does not make sense For earthing (for safety purposes - so people do not get accidentally electrocuted while working on a de-energized system) - you rely on the gizmo to stay connected as long as you line - whereas a breaker is supposed to trip (open) automatically on overcurrent or short circuit current - "sense makes not" (in Germish)
Daniel Rabinovich (asker) Jan 22, 2015:
Yes :)
meirs Jan 22, 2015:
Was the German spec written by DB Consult this time - as it was 10 years ago ?
meirs Jan 22, 2015:
they are earthing/grounding disconnectors or switches - I've worked on the former electrification project of 10 years ago for more than a year.
Daniel Rabinovich (asker) Jan 22, 2015:
Yes, it is a translation from German.
There are other problems with the translation from German into English, as you can see from the text above.
meirs Jan 22, 2015:
are you sure it is a breaker and not a switch Sounds like wrong translation from another language (German maybe).
As far as I know, breakers are not used in grounding circuit (they make no sense there) of a railways application (I guess it is 25 or 27.5 kV)
