In view of Anil's comment, I rechecked with the Reserve Bank Glossary of Banking Terms. It gives two Hindi terms for earnest money: बयाना (bayana) and अग्रिम धन (agrim dhan)

Father Bulke's English-Hindi dictionary also gives बयाना (bayana) as the equivalent of Earnest Money.
