Yes Tambeji, mesmerise has almost the same meaning, it actually means मन्त्रमुग्ध करना but for enthrall वशीभूत करना या मोहित करना would be better.

Even though Mesmerise has almost the same meaning as enthrall, the former can have negative shades (be used in a negative sense) but the later is almost always used in a positive sense ie a person being enthralled by something means he is fully interested and in awe of the thing and thus it has got his full attention.
