Testo: The daffodil template includes a few leaves, but here these have been left out, and a green gingham contrast added at the bottom of the hanger instead. The contrast fabric has been cut on the bias, but depending on the preferred look, it can be taken along the grain, too.
Along the grain l'avrei tradotto in questo modo: In compenso, nella parte inferiore della gruccia è stato aggiunto un tessuto contrastante a quadretti verdi, tagliato in sbieco. Ma, a seconda delle vostre preferenze, può essere tagliato lungo la venatura.
Ho guardato in internet ma non ho trovato una traduzione in italiano soddisfacente. Stiamo parlando di taglio, cucito e ricamo in un manuale... Secondo voi come potrebbe essere tradotta in italiano questa espressione?

Errata corrige. Lungo l'armatura non si dice (anche se armatura come incrocio di trama e ordito è corretto).
Ho spiegato la cosa a un'amica sarta/ stilista e mi ha spiegato che si dice "in drittofilo" (parallelamente alla cimosa), mentre "di sbieco" significa a 45° rispetto alla cimosa.

Guarda su Wordreference ho trovato(come penso abbia trovato anche tu)
"Across the grain" tradotto come trasversalmente alle fibre(nel tuo caso venature) o perpendicolarmente alle fibre
Comunque la tua traduzione sembra piuttosto precisa a mio modesto parere.Posso sapere cosa non ti convince del modo in cui hai tradotto "Along the Grain"?

Io credo che qui si intenda tagliare seguendo il filo, cioè l'ordito, perché è il modo comune di tagliare la stoffa. Spesso quando si parla di "along the grain" si intende "along lengthwise grain", cioé l'ordito, ma potrei sbagliarmi.

Io credo che qui si intenda tagliare seguendo il filo, cioè l'ordito, perché è il modo comune di tagliare la stoffa. Spesso quando si parla di "along the grain" si intende "along lengthwise grain", cioé l'ordito, ma potrei sbagliarmi.

1. The lengthwise yarn, or warp yarn, runs parallel to the finished edge (selvage) of the fabric and forms the lengthwise grain of the fabric. In this direction, the fabric is strongest and will stretch the least. For this reason, most items are generally cut along, or to, the lengthwise grain.
2. The crosswise threads, or weft yarns, are woven in between the warp yarns to create the woven cloth and form the crosswise grain. The crosswise threads run across the fabric from selvage edge to selvage edge. Fabric in this direction has more stretch and is less strong.
