English term

groupthink

GBK English to Slovak Social Sciences Psychology
The tendency of a decision-making group to filter out undesirable input so that a consensus may be reached, especially if it is in line with the leader's viewpoint.
Example sentences:
A group is especially vulnerable to groupthink when its members are similar in background, when the group is insulated from outside opinions, and when there are no clear rules for decision making. (psysr.org)
Another description, as it applies to education and group projects, is that "Groupthink is a process of gradualism that seeks to gently merge the followers into a pack with leaders, the hope being that the leaders will pull up those who typically reside on the low end of the motivation and achievement scale (sourcewatch.org)
Groups experiencing groupthink do not consider all alternatives and they desire unanimity at the expense of quality decisions. (Small Group Communication)

skupinové myslenie

Ešte sa používa aj syndróm skupinového myslenia...
Definition from psychologia.studentske.eu:
Skupina si väčšinou vytvorí svoje vlastné normy a idey a od členov čaká, že sa podľa nich budú správať – núti ich prispôsobiť sa názoru väčšiny. Vzniká ilúzia, že jej názory sú správne a keďže nikto sa proti väčšinovému názoru otvorene nepostaví, skupina sa vôbec nepokúsi hľadať alternatívne riešenia a môže prijať katastrofálne rozhodnutia.
Example sentences:
Zvyšovanie počtu žien v správnych radách britských finančných inštitúcií pomôže zredukovať takzvaný groupthink alebo syndróm skupinového myslenia a zlepšiť preverovanie rozhodnutí manažmentov. Tvrdí to v najnovšej správe britský výbor pre financie. (dnes.sk)
