I would not attempt to translate "cookie cutter" in this context. It stands for frills, frilly decorations etc. and thus I suggest something along those lines. Good luck.

: Or "adornado". I think the author was confused, and was thinking of ornately ornamented Victorian *gingerbread* houses, quite different from mass-produced, standardized houses.

: Yes, the architecture was ornate, but I think the author knew what he was saying with "cookie cutter". One house after another used the gingerbread style - so it was like mass production.
