On this one day, the day of my dad’s story, my Dad and this boy were getting on the bus after school. As usual, the boy was quite proud to be on the bus, and he was helping his dad guide the bus past a sign.
“How far son?”the boy’s dad called out from the front of the bus.
The boy stretched his head out of the bus – you could do that with bus windows in those days – and took a good look.
“You’ve got heaps of room!” said the boy, loudly, so that the other children could hear.
“Bewdy,” thought the dad, before putting his foot down on the accelerator.

genial / estupendo

"beaut – (adj) great, fantastic, terrific; in use since the 1910s (n); great thing; for example, "What a beaut!"; in use since the 1890s
beauty – exclamation showing approval, often spelt as bewdy (to represent Australian pronunciation). For example: "You bewdy!", which is roughly equivalent to "Great!", "Fantastic!" or "Wonderful!". In use since the 1850s."
