Antonio Banderas

English Art/Literary Cinema, Film, TV, Drama "Evita"
Well, you wont’ believe it but one of my good customers would like to know the following :

In the motion picture “Evita” does Antonio Banderas really sings or is he dubbed ?

As I am his usual translator in Spanish/French, I am supposed to know everything about Antonio Banderas !…

Some clue anybody ?

Thanks in advance.

why don't you rent the movie, you'll be able to recognize his voice (or not)?

Yes, it's his voice

At least according to this movie review:

If there's a real surprise in Evita, it's the strength of Antonio Banderas' performance. Playing a sort of one-man Greek chorus, he fills the role of narrator with an impossible-to-miss sardonic quality. Banderas' Che gives the film an edge, and Evita's few negative qualities come to light through his numbers. Even though Banderas doesn't have Madonna's vocal ability, he acquits himself well enough when it comes to singing, and his acting is the best that it's been since he parted ways with Pedro Almoldovar (after Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!).

Contrary to popular belief, Evita is not Antonio\'s first singing role in a film. In 1985 he was in La Corte del Faraon, based on an old operetta censored during the Franco regime, and he had also been in musicals on stage. Music is fundamental to Antonio\'s life. He has played guitar since he was fourteen, plays piano, composes and collects music. \"He speaks everything singing,\" says Antonio\'s friend Imanol Arias. \"Music is the goal of his life.\"

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Many thanks Kim. Very hard to attribute KudoZ as everybody gave the same good reply with a lot of details. But Kim have been the fasterone. KudoZ competition is very tough and harsh. My best thanks to all the other ones who kindly made the effort and took on their time to answerme. Friendly yours, Thierry"
