I am currently translating an interview with the CEO of a luxury brand. The rest of the rest was fine apart from the intro to one question. The interviewer asked what the mission of the brand was. The CEO replied with
J'affirme et j'assume: "[marque x] et la seule marque qui ..."
and then he goes on to basically quote their corporate mission. I know what "j'affirme et j'assume" mean literally but I am stumped as to what they are doing here. Given the context, I am considering dumping them as it is for publishing in a trendy magazine. What do you think?
