Arabicium, Haebraicum, Syriacum

Sorry, I didn't see you were looking for a translation into English...
Ich denke dass diese Bezeichnungen für ein mittleres Sprachniveau der entsprechenden Sprachen gültig sind, also entsprechend dem frühere kleinen Latinum...
Langenscheidt gibt dafür die Übersetzung: Intermediate Latin qualyfying examination, so I suppose you could say: intermediate qualifying examinations in Arabic, Hebrew and Assyrian

Note from asker:
Genau, das ist was ich suche, also eine englische Übersetzung oder ein Äquivalent dafür. Syriacum ist die Sprachprüfung für das Altsyrische (Syro-Aramäische). Diese drei Sprachprüfungen sind Bestandteil eines kulturwissenschaftlichen Studiums der Semitistik, die sich sowohl mit geschichtlichen als auch theologischen Texten beschäftigt. |

Would be my suggestion.

I think the languages in conjunction with an examination would depend on the exam level e.g. General Certificate of Secondary Education in Arabic ( GCSE .Arabic), but there are many different examinations. Normally in English I come from Syria, I am Syrian and I speak Syrian, I come from England, I am English and speak English etc.

Are you looking for translations for ancient languages or for the modern day courses which may be on offer?

Arabian is normally the language spoken in Arabia, Arabic is a semetic language spoken by most Arabs, dialects could mean something else in this context.

Note from asker:
But these are the names of the languages (except for Syrian, which sounds more like the Syrian dialect of Arabic than Syriac), aren't there any terms for the exams? |
Yes, it is the English term for the exam levels that are in Germany called Arabicum, Hebraicum and Syriacum that I am searching for. These exams are taken by students at a university as a requirement for taking the intermediate examination of master of semitic studies. In Syria there are also other languages present than the Syrian dialect of Arabic. This ancient language, which is an Aramaic language, is called Syriac (you can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syriac). |
I am looking for the English translation of the Arabicum exam of classical Arabic, the Hebraicum exam of Biblical Hebrew and the Syriacum exam of Syriac. Arabic is a semitic language, just as Hebrew and Syriac. Arabian is the dialect of Arabic spoken on the Arabian Peninsula. |

: Syriac (Aramaic), not Syrian. More to do with Assyria than Syria.
