Mike, that's how I understand adjunct, too. Adjunktus, however, is a permanent member of the staff: assistant professor.

If an "adjunktus professzor" means a professor "attached in a subordinate or temporary capacity" to a university teaching staff, then I would say "adjunct professor", because to the best of my knowledge, that's what it means in English.

Az amerikai assistant professor kb. valóban az adjunktus, de ott ez az első lépcsőfok az akadémiai szamárlétrán. Egyes hazai egyetemeken ezt is a tanársegéd megfelelőjeként használják (az assistant lecturer mellett). Sajnos van egy kis keveredés.

Zsuzsa: a docens megfelelője az associate professor, ami Nagy-Britanniában hagyományosan Reader (de újabban associate professor is). Az a gond, hogy a magyar rendszer nem feleltethető meg pontosan az angolszász (és egyéb) rendszereknek.

juvera: Igaz, de a hivatkozás, amit Gábor megadott, a BME honlapja, tehát magyar egyetem. Az összes senior lecturer, associate professor és professor neve előtt következetesen szerepel a Dr. és/vagy PhD. A kiigazítást pedig köszönöm.

disagree Andrea Nagy : Az assistant lecturer-t Mo-n a tanársegéd megfelelőjeként használják. Ha megnézed az általad megadott első linket, egyik assistant lecturer neve előtt sem szerepel "Dr" vagy "PhD". A doktori fokozat megszerzése az előfeltétele az adjunktusi kinevezésnek.

neutral juvera : Andreának: Ez valóban a tanársegéd, de a UK angol nyelvterületeken a doktori címet csak az orvosdoktorok használják, még a sebészek sem, tehát ez nem mérvadó. (és: lecturert)
