Angela Arnone Oct 27, 2006:
Sorry, I'm a UK English native speaker and for me Director of Tourism doesn't have the same connotation as "assessore" at all. I'm adding the standard term to the glossary along with your entry.
Angela Arnone Oct 27, 2006:
Rachel, the link Silvia gives is perfectly correct. An "assessore" is the councillor with special responsability for a given sector, so you need to say "Councillor for Tourism". I have done countless speeches for these folks and that's what they're called
Rachele Rossanese (asker) Oct 27, 2006:
Si Silvia, tuttavia volevo vedere se per caso ricevessi qualche altro suggerimento interessante, in quanto "Councillor" non mi suona troppo bene...

Director of Tourism

How does this sound - in UK County Councils the person responsible for a particular department is called Director
