agree humbird : 菜種油を精製した淡黄色の油、また大豆、綿の実の精製油(広辞苑)Although I wonder if "essential" is correct. "Refined" sounds more natural to me.

neutral KathyT : Although generally of plant/vegetable origin, "essential oils" are usually used for massage or in burners to perfume rooms, etc. I have never heard of them being used in cooking, although I guess this would be possible, eg. lavender-scented ice cream, etc
