/cont'd from reply to Chris ..why they had not chosen the term "minoritetsspråklig" - which after double-checking I found to be widely used by education authorities here in Norway when referring to pupils, so my caution was probably unfounded here.

This may be rejected for not being politically correct, but after trying various other alternatives (monolingual, language-homogeneous, linguistically homogeneous, etc) I think I might have gone for this - provided the client approved the use of "minority-language".

My suggestion. Other possibilities that occurred to me were 'single-language' or even 'monoglotal' meetings.

Monolingual parents' evenings

In the UK, in schools, these meetings are normally called parents' evenings (as they tend to be after school).

I wonder if this simple write-around might be the best solution.

I also like Brigid's answer but I don't know whether or how teachers will be involved given the language issue, so perhaps just parent meetings would be safer.

PS Am intrigued by the notion of "minority language" being un-PC...

agree brigidm : To satisfy your curiosity, Chris.. when some schools in Oslo have more pupils with foreign backgrounds than so-called ethic Norwegian background, one might well ask who exactly was the minority group there.. Also, I wondered.../

Parent-teacher meetings in parents' mother tongue

A way of phrasing that makes sense in a multicultural setting. P.S.: in Quebec (or elsewhere in French Canada), where linguistic groupings are popularly categorized as either "Francophone", "Anglophone", or "Allophone" (those whose mother tongue is neither French nor English), we could talk about parent-teacher meetings for Allophone parents in their mother tongue.
