Portuguese term

Andor

Portuguese to English Other Religion Catholic tradition
"...no fim das cerimónias, os andores vêm da capela..."

Encontrei "paso" em alguns contextos, mas é uma palavra espanhola. Alguém conhece outro termo? Obrigada.

Discussion

Nick Taylor Jun 28, 2012:
Andor is a processional litter (e.g. Fatima) A procession had advanced, bearing a processional litter on which stood the statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The stewards, however, turned it back and the litter with the statue had to be abandoned there, on the ground, in the grass.

procession

This could be a float or a statue on a platform with poles to carry it. Generically we'd call the whole lot a "procession".

Yes, I know exactly what you mean but I'm not aware of a term for this English - someone else may. Failing that, I would paraphrase it and say "a procession carrying statues on wooden platforms leaves the chapel". Just a suggestion.
Note from asker:
Thanks. It's actually a platform, with a statue on top, and it's carried on several shoulders.
