to draw one's essence

The Cluj-Napoca National Opera drew its essence from the great deeds that stand at the basis of Transylvanian culture.

Cate capete atatea idei :-).

hmmm... in loc de \"stand at the basis of...\" mai degraba \"stand at the roots of\".

to sense the essence

grasped the essence or caught the essence

The National Opera of Cluj grasped the essence from the historical facts which stood at the creation of Transilvanian culture.

In acest context seva are sens de esenta, a faptelor istorice. Sper sa-ti fie de ajutor.
