Russian term

ётить

May offend Russian to English Other Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
A semi-acceptable shortened variant of "еб твою мать", "god fuck your mom". Can someone propose something different from fuck?

Thank you in advance

No, just n interjection: "Нет такого города Тверь, етить. Калини!"
Oleksandr Melnyk Aug 15, 2009:
This question should have been marked as potentially offensive.
Mark Berelekhis Aug 15, 2009:
Any context? Do you want an insult? A cry of dismay? What?

Eff off!

The eff stands for the same word but the word itself is avoided.
Holy s**t is fine for US English but is still rather less accepted for UK.
Note from asker:
An excellent variant, but it does not fit the context.
Peer comment(s):

agree Zamira B. : What a clever way to avoid the 'f***' word!

Thank you.
agree Alexander Onishko : "eff" is just excellent! however this "off" is not to the place somehow - "ётить" is normally used simply as an expression of surprise

Thank you. OK, you know what the Russian means better than I do, but I can't think of anything offhand.
neutral danya : "ef off" and its ruder prototype mean "leave me alone", "get out from here" etc. - ётить is an expletive, and is not addressed to any one

Thank you. Trying to think of anything similar in English. People sometimes say "Get out of here!" just as an expression of surprise rather than in the direct meaning, but I don't think that really fits either.

Well, the context appeared just a couple of minutes ago.
Note from asker:
YOur variant is better contectuatlly than "eff off", but it looks like even less accceptable thant simple "fuck".
