Discussion

Marta Maojo Apr 30, 2019:
From a geologist friend: " ..the rising salt deposit has displaced sediments on the
... flanks forming a trapping mechanism ... A diagram would be useful to be 100% sure.
Thomas Walker Apr 27, 2019:
More context, please I'm having a hard time contextualizing this. Can you give us a full paragraph or more, ideally with text on both sides of the question text?

In Dutch, "allochtoon" is a fairly common word for "immigrant", ie "person from a different soil".
Note from asker:
Wow! Good eye Phil! I also understood it as a pickax, but had no idea how that would have been shoehorned into that phrase.

agree bigedsenior : allocthonous salt seems to be a fascinating sub-branch of geology

agree Charles Davis : Well done! Alóctono, not alóctano, in Spanish, and allochthonous, not allocthonous, in English (though the latter seems to admitted as a variant). A word that's often misspelt, not surprisingly.

salt mined with pickaxe
